Need my email to do this...

I have widget locker installed with executive assistant on top. It shows me a preview of all my new mail and refreshes every five minutes. I like this set up. I can quickly see my latest emails without unlocking.

Now if an email comes in and I want to read it in full, I can launch my email app. What I want is a universal inbox that doesn't download my emails until I open it. Since exec asst polls my email already I don't want my email app to do it as well.

I've tried k-9 email and I cant figure out how to do this, nor can I with stock.

Any ideas?

The email app has to support polling for your email account type. You'd just have to set it to manual polling (if available). I really only use Touchdown which probably isn't germane to you and can't comment on possible email app options to suit you.
