Need Help Bad. All text threads gone

I had like 20 of these saved under different people. Was fine this morning and all of a sudden I went to texts and every thread and old text was gone!!! Any idea of how to get these back or what could have happened? I had important texts saved.

Don't think I've ever had this happen before. It's highly doubtful they can be retrieved at this point but going forward there are apparently apps that will allow you to backup texts. Haven't used Handcent yet to know if it does this.

I don't believe there is a solution to this issue. Some say handcent works, others say Chomp.

But I would encourage you to use the search on Google. Look at how many threads there have been on this in the Droid Forums alone:

Texts are sent though verizon servers, not google. Verizon servers only hold the texts until they can be delivered to your phone, once on your phone there is no way to get them back if they are deleted.

What app to people recommend to backup texts in future? My backup pro? I just uninstalled atk. This really sucks.
