need a simple shortcut to make calls

On my old Palm I had hotkeys that were assigned to different contacts to make a call. I'm looking for a simple way to do this on my droid. I have shortcuts on home page but is there anything else?

Having the direct dial shortcuts on your home screen is it for Android. Unless you don't want them spread all over, then you can create one folder for them on your home screen and then put them all inside of that.
