Navigation problem

I just got my phone this past tuesday and I live in Michigans Upper Peninsula and have tried to navigate to upstate ny and the phone will not get me a route ?

It just tells me no route found
navigation to your destination is not available.

I use the voice feature and I ask the phone to give me a route to Potsdam NY .
