Alright back cm7 took awhile to boot. I can't thank you enough for your help JSM its people like you who make me proud to be part of the android community. So I have one last question how do I boot into CWM on cm7 cause the power + volume down did not work
Holding both volume buttons down took me to bootloader

You need to get to CWM when the DX is already powered on. Just hold in the power button and the menu will pop up - there will be a reboot option, select that and then select recovery.

The only thing you can do then is try a factory reset from stock recovery or the more likely solution which is an SBF.
