google brought me here to answer my need for removing the password on my galaxy s3. evidently you cant as of this day. BUT i did find the work around in the forum eg open keypad/menu/call settings/voicemail settings/ add comma after 86 /password/ # and voila. if anyone reads this and happens to find a way to actually delete the password:?
regards, noob

Welcome aboard!

I am not sure that you can delete that password as that is what registers your account with VZW as well - when you call in to customer service and they ask you for your PIN...it always seems to be my VM password and if I change it, it changes with them as well.
