mysterious jelly bean

lear

New Member
My phone notified me about jelly bean update.i accepted it.after the update is done, i don't see anything. I mean there is no sign of installing the update. No way to know what to do next. No change whatsoever. I went to (about phone) to find out that phone update is greyed out.what to do?

Go to about phone, scroll to the bottom and post a screen capture of the version number.

Lear, I see that you started three threads on this topic in the last few days. Only one is needed.

Sorry, i needed some way out and my first post didn't include that i checked (about phone) and the 2 first threads were in RAZR Maxx forums. I thought i should post another in here. Sorry again and Thanx for reply.

Ok, so it appears you are still on the most recent version of Gingerbread, .211. The update you were notified about was for the new release of Jelly Bean (version 98.72.16), which was pushed out Over The Air (OTA) recently. Since it obviously didn't take, there may be a problem with your current installation of Gingerbread, such as system file deletions, mods, or simply a corrupted system or download file.

You can "side-load" the update using the recovery menu, but an even better and easy way to get you up and running on JB is to use Matt L Groff's RAZR Utility for Jelly Bean.

DROID RAZR Utility XT912 Jellybean -- Windows + Mac + Linux (All In One!).

You'll choose option 2.

P.S. In the future, please keep your postings for a particular subject in the proper Forum and please do not create more than one thread for the same subject. For Forum guidelines, please see the link below my signature. Thanks! :D

Thanks, Lear. I'm happy to see that you're getting help from FoxKat, who is extremely knowledgeable.

Don't worry about it...

LOL! Yeah, we know that new members do have a bit of a learning curve to conform to the forum's expectations...however we're sure you will be a shining star in no time - especially considering how you downloaded the utility, executed it, and have successfully installed Jelly Bean first time out - and without any additional assistance. That's the mark of a true geek (said affectionately - of course!) Before to long, you'll be advising other "newbies" of the ways of Android and Droid Forums, I'm confident of that! :hail:

I'm silenced, Mr. FoxKat. No words. This compliment is much bigger than me. But i will try my best to be up to those " full of energy and encouragement" words. I'm even shy to thank you.
