My Droid Hard drive is dead

It looks like my Droid Hard drive is dead.
I connected to PC and no notifications was made. Also in Gallery I see a shaded picture. (I am supposed to have a few pics and videos).

1. I this something I can fix myself?
2. I have it for less than a year. will warranty cover this?
