My droid broke. Wat do?

Okay, so, I was longboarding and I was trying a trick and the board slipped under me and I fell on my phone and the screen detached.

WHAT WORKS
-The phone turns on
-The screen has zero scratches

WHAT DOES NOT WORK
-The screen is broken inside
-It came off it's hinge, but the wire is still connected

There's no water damage.
It's rooted and everything, so if I try and take it in to verizon what will they do?
Can someone please help me on the easiest way I can get a new droid?
Can I just exchange it for another one? is it that easy?

I got it at best buy. I have a friend who works there, maybe he can pull some strings.

$7.99 a month ($2 a week) for the full coverage and extended warranty?
Maybe he can..pretty hard to just exchange a phone that's physically damaged and or abused though..
