Muted earpiece???

Just got a replacement d2 from verizon in the mail and flashed liberty the normal way today. Made a few calls and didn't hear a thing. Thought something was wrong with the network. Then I got a return call from a buddy and couldn't hear him unless I was using the speakerphone. I've reflashed since then and still nothing. Did verizon give me yet another junk phone or is this a liberty issue that others have had and I don't know about?
