Multimedia Stations

Is it really safe to keep using the multimedia station every night to charge your phone? I mainly use it as an alarm clock but my X is in the media station all night even after its been charged to 100%. Will this harm the performance of the phone at all or the battery life? I noticed last night the bright light for the bottom docking keys was on all night until my alarm went off this morning. Just Curious!!!

It's supposed to be safe for the battery because it stops charging when the battery is full. I've been using the dock at night with this phone, and the OG Droid before that, for years. Since the Gingerbread update the button lights seem to be shutting off after a longer time interval than before. But I'm not certain they shut off every night.
