I downloaded a song. I dropped it into my music folder. If I go into a file managerand tap it the song will play in any music player I have installed. But if I search it in Google music it won't play. But again, ill go back to astro and tap on it, pick Google music to play it and it will play with the pop up on the screen.
I've edited the file a few times and still can't win.
Any ideas ?

Have you tried to restart the phone and see if the media scanner will re-scan and pick them up..... I had a few issues with the stock player so I went to Winamp and haven't had an issue since.

Just tried that before posting with no luck. I LOVE Google muic cause of what I have stored in the cloud. I tried the stock player and also tried Apollo. Same result in all of them. The file will play in any file manager but not if opened in a music player....gggrrrrrr

I actually just googled the song and downloaded it. The first DL was a .bin that played in the same matter. I deleted it and downloaded from another site with the same result. I've done this 3 times from different sites. I've opened the detailed in astro and androzip too.

Ok if it isn't a true mp3 or similar file I am pretty sure that the media scanner won't pick it up as a song... It is going to be passed on by.. The players will play it but will not show it in the viewable library....

Must be a weird bug with the DNA on why the music player won't pick it up.... What program are you using to convert the song? Maybe try a different program.....

It won't play in the stock music player either unless I go into the file and open it. If I open the music player it says it can't play this type of file.

Try an actual music converter. Just changing the extension isn't going to do it.

I was having the same issue, I actually put the files in a "music" folder that I created and now it works perfectly.

Sent from my DNA, it's in me.
