Movies on the Droid?

OK. A friend and myself were discussing on how to put movies on our Droids. Can someone here tell me the easiest way to put a movie on my SD card? He was saying that he used a program called Hand Brake but it was confusing and he hasen't got the jist of it yet. Can someone tell me what they use and how to go about this? Thanks in advance.

Also, does the movie have to be in MP4 format?

I used HB on my iPhone. Worked great. It steps you through. I have not had a chance with the Droid yet. I just got it what... two days ago. I am still working through understanding this thing.

Any other ideas. I just don't like the idea of using software for the other phone..lol Also, what format and ratio is required?
