Motorola bringing Up own "Market"

Release is not sure yet, but one thing is for sure,
the "motorola market app" is beeing pushed to all motorola
devices via the providers.

As they said in the article, that the APK files have been aviable for testing...i think it will take onto next year to release!

Meh.... I guess i'm the only person who feels that all this will do is add confusion. The Motorola "market" will likely offer the same exact apps as the Android Market if my hunch is correct. All it will do is create a source of confusion when/if the device needs to be reloaded from the recovery image. "Gee, where the hell is my Touchdown app? Why isn't it showing up in 'downloads'? Oh yeah *facepalm* I bought THAT app from the Moto 'market'"

Maybe a better solution would be to replace (or add another) the Verizon tab with Motorola in the Market app. The good thing about this IF done right is it could have apps that are approved/tested by Moto to work with your specific phone... now that would be worth the extra "tab" IMHO.

Yeah, you are right. Another plus would be that most apps in the market are programmed by small developer groups or single developers. Motorola could have a whole department on that, in case they want to have money, and maybe they produce apps with "root" implemented so that the apps get more powerful!

If they add a tab. that wouldn't be bad. Also I am sure if it's bought from the Motorola market even if it's from a third party. Motorola will get a fee . Nice way to make some extra gross

Not sure I understand that, but it sounds good to me!

J/K

The point about factory "root" accessable add-on apps is VERY interesting! Could almost be like mini system updates. Or at least ones that can change behaviours that normal apps could never touch.

I hope Moto sees your post!!

That smacks of Apple and their app store. I'm not sure I want Big Brother approving what apps are available. Let the market do that.

(With the possible exception of testing apps for malware....)

I was talking about a separate app section for those, not meaning all apps. There are some people who would like the OPTION, of having "approved" apps to ensure a smoother running, more trouble free experience.... at least in theory.

I'd go for this. Would just want to be sure the whole interface is clean and easily searchable.
