Even if they don't go that way....you can bet that Motorola phones will be at the top of the list for updates!

No. Google has stated that they plan to run Motorola mobility as a separate company. Making to many changes in the companies practices could potentially upset some carriers like verizon who prefer locked bootloader phones.
