Missing App Icons-Green droid instead

So the last three apps i downloaded from the play store have left the same green droid with a white 3d cube inside his body icon on my desktop. the most recent was foxfi which had to delete and re-download to make work. i know it used to have the three blue rainbow wifi broadcast icon, but after re-installing it too has the green droid. did i change a setting somewhere? what gives? anyone else seen this issue? when i open the app drawer they are correct, but not on the desktop.

This is usually because of an SD card error. Make sure the apps are installed to the phone and not the external storage, then restart your phone.

I have to believe it is something to so with the play store automatically placing the apps on the desktop. When i add an app through the proper channels, the correct icon comes through. It is only when the play store automatically adds the icon. While the problem isn't exactly fixed, I have found a solution through a few extra steps. Thanks for the suggestion.
