Messaging wake-up

Been using my droid for awhile but now I use text much more frequently. Is there a way/app to 'wake-up' the phone when a text arrives? Most of my old, 'dumb' phones did that by default. I can't find an appropriate setting anywhere in the droid. Any words of wisdom?

You could download handcent from the marketplace. There is an option for a pop up that will wake the phone up so you can read and respond to the message.

Welcome to the forum. I second that suggestion that you get a replacement app for messaging. I also use Handcent which I prefer but there is also Chomp. I believe there is a setting for the waking up when new message arrives in both apps.

Welcome! I've used both Hanscent and Chomp. Both work well so give them a try and see which one you like the best.
