message waiting indicator

What does it take to get the voice mail 'message waiting indicator' to work? I had voice mail on my prior Verizon phone (Treo 755) and it always displayed an indicator showing that I had new voice mail waiting for me. No such indicator on my DX. Why?

Call Your Voice Mail

Once you are in your Voice Mail on Verizon, Go to Permissions and make sure your Notifications are turned on. You might turn them off, then back on again. Good Luck. Do a re-boot with your phone.

Thanks. I found the menu, turned the notice 'on.' Still no message waiting indicator. Any more suggestions?

Hmm, I can't find the menu. I have the same problem, with my Droid 1 and Droid 4 -- not message waiting indicator. Help instructions say to "access voice mail, then press 4, and below says go to Permissions. But when I access voice mail, my messages start playing and there isn't any menu.
