Media Share app, y/n ? hdmi streaming questions

I'm currently using MPCstar to view my collection of movies on my laptop. I cannot view media moved from my laptop to my droid x. What is the best app on the market that would solve this problem?

I eventually would like to stream videos from my phone to my tv using a hdmi cable. Does anyone have any advice? Is media share good enough for the job?
