Market won't update?

My girlfriend and I both have Droid X's. Both not rooted and on the stock GB. I've recently noticed my Android Market was updated. Forgot if I did it manually or if it was automatic. Anyways, I showed my girlfriend how cool the new layout looked and she checked hers. No update and we've been researching and researching on why this is or how we can find the update and it seems impossible. Any suggestions?

The market is being pushed out to phones. There are flashable zips you can use if you root

Is there any reason why it was pushed to my phone already? It's all just very strange to me. I was thinking of rooting but I'm what you call a noob and knowing my luck I'd probably fry my X lol.
