maps usage

Ever since the 2.1 update I've noticed that "maps" is using a large amount of battery such as 40 to 50% run a task program and nothing showing up, gps isn't showing in notification bar etc, I did just down load goggle earth, but it doent show that using battery when not being used, I apparently have a ghost map/gps ?????????

I'm having the same issue. However, my battery life isn't actually any worse than before, so I'm thinking it's a reporting error rather than actual battery usage. Still, I am curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

have u tried to find it in the stock task killer? setting/applications/running services and click what ever u want to kill...
