manage applications question

Senior Member
On my old DROID when I press
"Manage applications" on the top
it says, On SD card but with my
RAZR MAXX it says "media area"

My objective was to move one of
my apps to my SD card but I can't
figure how?

Also, I don't believe "media area"
means the SD card but is part of
the phone storage.

Any suggestions?

It shouldn't be any different than OG droid. Can you provided a screen shot?

When I go to menu..manage apps..and open a app it looks like this:

No my app says "move to media" but the same
app in my original DROID says "move to
SD card.

Still on gingerbread so no screen shot available.

I don't understand how I could put
this app on the SD card with the old
DROID but not with my RAZR MAXX
unless I'm missing something?

OK that is just bizarre. Have you tried uninstall/reinstall? How about soft/hard reboots?

ALL of my apps say the same thing, either
"Move to phone" or "move to media area"

On my originalDroid it gave the option
"Move to SD card" but not my RAZR MAXX.

I doubt uninstalling would change that.
As I've said, all my apps say this.

Have you made sure your sd card is properly installed?

Resistance is futile!!

Well I just moved my photos over to
my SD card without a problem so I
guess it is.

Someone with a RAZR MAXX, do the following :

1) settings 2) click applications 3) click manage applications
4) select an app. Is there an option to move to SD card?

With me there isn't. I either have "move to phone" or
"Move to media area"

????

My XT912 on the 4.1.2 leak offers only "Move to Internal Storage."

The OG Droid offered more flexibility in several areas, e.g., unlocked boot loader. This may be another example.

That means you already have it moved to the sd card

I'm going to have to bite the bullet
and allow the ICS upgrade then and see
what happens.

After factory resetting I'll just
have to reinstall the apps I guess.

Does anyone know if I'll get
my paid for apps back free or
will I have to buy it all over again?

Thanks!

All your paid apps are tied to your Google email account. Your paid apps are yours to be used in other future devices without having to buy it again...it will be listed as "purchased" once you log into the play store.

Hope everything works out once you upgrade to ICS..you would have had to upgrade eventually since Jelly Been is suppose to be out by end of march.
