Man I'd be upset...

Personally I would hope they would fix the ridiculously annoying issues with the phone, like the stock gallery issue constantly force closing, among other things... Minor to some people, but when you use your gallery a lot and you can't use it at all because the stupid stock gallery won't work properly, gets annoying. I shouldn't have to download a third party app to get something that is STOCK on the phone to work...

i totally agree with you. other than the fact that i absolutely LOVE my DX i am seriously considering NOT going back with another Motorola phone when my 2 year is up. I have a feeling that i am not the only one debating that. as for the DX2 being an "upgrade" from the DX, what exactly has been upgraded? the processor is probably the only noticeable and BIG difference, same internal memory and still only expandable to 32 gigs. no 4G (which is the biggest disappointment), same weight, height, and length. the camera is exactly the same, still on 2.2, still has the same features and apps (bloatware). other than the processor, there isn't any other differences in the 2 phones.

Camera is not the same, it's said to have a faster shutter.

Nvidia terga 2 dual core

1 gb ram

higher resolution display

mirroring capability via hdmi out unlike the X which can not mirror.

You are clearly caught up by the fact that it looks the same. It's not, everything that matters was upgraded other than 4g.

Like I said some people don't need the extra data speed or don't live in a 4g area or don't want the battery drain issues with 4g.

Do some research before you proclaim it's nearly the same, because it's not.

If this phone had a different case around it you wouldn't be thinking this way.

Wrong
In most respects, the Droid X and the Droid X2 are identical. Their size, weight, RAM and onboard memory, camera, and launch price are exactly the same.

well I think it's apparent that different websites are offering different information and different people are willing to say their source is the one that's correct.

I personally don't care what's correct until I'm ready to buy, until then, it's just virtual window shopping.

I like the X and with the changes/upgrades I've been reading about, the only thing that would have me looking ALSO at other phones, is the lack of 4G. The Verzon 3G speeds aren't the greatest.

On a note from a previous post, I've never had FC issues with the gallery

Where is the front facing camera? That would be nice. Also I want a tv antenna I can pull out.

The DX2 is not a replacement for the DX...it is just a holdover until the Bionoic/Targa/whatever other phone Moto has in the pipeline. It also gets to sport the dual-core proc from Nvidia and become an unofficial test bed for future development.

There are enough upgrades to make me look at snagging it...and they are functions that I would use, not sideshow add-ons that would be wasted such as FFC. Mirroring HDMI is great when you consider a 12ft HDMI-MiniHDMI cable can be bought for under $10 and will allow me to stream content such as NetFlix from my phone to my TV with no problems. Faster shutter speed on the camera results in crisper, less washed out pix...which is great seeing as this is an 8MP camera than can also shoot 720P video. 32GB expandable memory is the standard right now, as I know of no 64GB compatible phones or for that matter, any 64GB MiniSD cards...so why gripe about that? If it does in fact have onl;y 768MB of RAM, that is still an upgrade from the 512MB that the DX came with...and it will make a noticeable difference in app load times and multi-tasking when coupled with the dual core processor...

In summation, it is an upgrade...its is not a full on redesign...basically, Moto copped Apples business model for the DX/DX2...been working for Apple for 4 generations of iPhones....:)

Way to copy and paste, good one. So the website I looked at had the wrong ram specs. I still maintain this is far from "identical" other than the looks.

Some people are just so fixated on the fact that it has the same form factor, that doens't make me wrong.

I've read the shutter was improved, perhaps that's not 100%true but that's what I've read. Also the WI-FI was improved it now does 802.11a also the Tegra 2 allows for 1080p playback using HDMI at 26-30 fps, that's another improvement.

Let's round this up.

Much higher resolution screen about 26% more pixels.

Much better processor, real powerhouse (this is a big deal)

Mirroring via HDMI

More options for WI-FI connectivity.

Higher FPS output vis HDMI.

Better shutter, not 100% sure but I have read this.

So it has the same amount of ram and is still 3G only, sorry but that and because it looks the same does not make it so.

If you stuffed this phone into a different case you certainly wouldn't be trying to make the case that's it's nearly identical, it just isn't get over it. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

This is a great phone for someone who's ready for an upgrade. I personally would choose this over the TB because I don't neeed 4g data speed (I'm almost always on WI-FI) and I would rather have the Dual-core.

What happened to "you can gave the last word, I'm out". Ok we get it, not the same but is the same. Everyone has proven their point more than enough. Why keep arguing about it? You are going to believe what you want as will others. There is no need to drag this on. In a sense you were wrong in your info and so was I. You won't really know what the phone has, doesn't have.. can do and cannot do until you either go to the store and mess with one or purchase it. Enough is enough... put away your macho male ego and move on. Sheesh

Wrong again. You heard? From who? A crack dealer? It's the same in all respects minus screen reso and cpu and camera button.

Not sure why folks are getting so angry about this topic.

As BodyBagz and others said, this phone is not intended for the Droid X crowd. It is for "buying my first Smartphone" and "upgrading my crappy Smartphone" people who just want to upgrade to something better than what they currently have.

This phone is also a good option (possibly?) for OG Droid users who are finally ready to make the switch but are not looking for 4G.

It's not enough of an upgrade over what I have. Also, current DX users are largely still in the midst of their contract unless they are shuffling upgrades around or paying retail. The way I see it, I have until June 2012 to get "WOWWED" by new phones. I am looking so far beyond dual core...

I offered YOU the last word. I was not responding to you in my last comment, so why don't you get your panties out of that bunch.

Actually the offical specs are out, so we do know excatly what the differences are.

Far from "identical".

Oh please, don't think you had anything to do with my panties. That's a joke. Even if you weren't responding to me its getting quite annoying to see you try to boost your ego posting rude comments. I started this thread to have a joke ADULT discussion about the 2 phones not to have some punk start crap with everyone. Seriously, I've read some of your other posts, do you ever shut up? Or are you that concerned about your "internet reputation"? Give it up already for our sake.

No you are wrong it's not just the screen and CPU.

The offical specs are out I listed all the differences, it's more than just the screen and the CPU do you really need me to list them again? As I said I'm not 100% sure about the shutter.

I am 100% sure about more choices for WI-FI connectivity, mirroring via HDMI out, higher FPS via HDMI out, better screen, better CPU. Those are significant and more than just the screen, CPU and camera button.

Go ahead and try and prove me wrong that it dosn't support mirroring via HDMI, has higher FPS via HDMI out, and now supports 802.11a, because IT DOES.
