Is there a way to make a shortcut to my gmail accounts show up here? I can see yahoo, twitter, facebook, corporate sync, and sms/mms, it'd be convenient for gmail to be here too.

I've got it! First open gmail app, menu/settings and make sure you uncheck notifications for email alerts:
Then go to accounts/add account/email and just type your gmail address and pw! And voila!
