Just try leaving the phone powered off and plug it into wall charger. See if a battery icon pops up on the screen. If nothing happens just punch the power button quick(don't hold it down). See if it will pop up a charging icon.

It absolutely will not charge in any other state than with a correctly working system.

Best thing is to peel off the back, locate the + and - screws. Take an old moto chareg cord, cut and splice the end to reveal the red and black ;)
Lines. Take some sort of black electrical tape and tape black line to negative post, red to positive. Let it sit, 30 or more minutes. I have done
This several times with my Razr.

Wasn't able to get it to work with my D2 but I'll try to find the tutorial because I've heard alot of success stories.

Not true. I just did this a couple days ago.

1. Press and hold vol down and power, when the screen flickers, release buttons and quickly press all 3 side buttons (power, vol up, vol down)

2. Plug in the wall charger (not usb)

3. Use vol down to highlight the SBF Flash Option

4. Use vol up to select it

5. Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds then release.

Now the phone should power down completely after a couple seconds and begin charging (you should see the battery charging icon). If it doesn't work the first time just keep trying, took me a couple tries before it started charging but it worked. It also helps to boot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset first. It works though.

That is one awesome way to fully power down a phone that is bootlooping or otherwise unable to power down normally. Since the "battery pull" technique actually causes a reboot, it often just repeats the problem over and over.

Also being able to get to the Boot Mode Selection Menu and gain access to AP Fastboot is great for people who are stuck in a mess and can't get to it the normal way.

I will be keeping this advice in my archives and referring to it for others to benefit from. I just tried it to see if it works and it was 100% successful the very first time I tried.

One very cool new technique. Thanks!

I just keep getting a battery logo with a question mark in it

Battery logo with a question mark is an indication of a battery that is either to deeply discharged or is no longer able to take a charge, or is counterfeit battery (which is of course not the case with your phone).

You will need to keep trying or you may have to improvise with a self-crafted factory charge cable.

Hey exact same thing happened to me except I had no operating system on my phone at all (it was bad) I fixed it without charging or skrewing with the phone, do you still need help? (Its relatively easy to do all you do is make the phone think it has battery)
If you need help just reply

Can you just say what you did to make it charge, I've tried all the tricks, phone not charging.

You don't charge it if its dead you need the special cord but if you can get to the fast boot screen your phone should be fine. Okay plug your phone into the wall charger and boot into fast boot the battery status should be okay according to the phone. Now unplug from wall and plug into your computer the phone should still say battery status okay now press option 1 (I think its option one, the restore to stock option) now it will do its thing but when it reboots the phone unplug it from the computer and back into the wall (do not press any key to continue yet) now repeat step one with the wall charger and then plug into computer press anyone to continue flashing, you serving to have to repeat the unplug plug into wall replug pattern every time it reboots but this should fix your issue. When I did it my phone died right after flashing system but it was able to charge after so then I used the rsd lite method once I had 100% battery. Hope this helped!

This phone REQUIRES a MicroSIM card, which can be obtained at your local Verizon Phone Center Store, or via customer service over the phone at 1-800-922-0204. It can still be used on WIFI without a data plan, but you will be required to have a data plan to even activate it for phone calls on Verizon.

This worked great for me, I soft bricked my MAXX and was able to swap cables and reset to get the battery to say it was OK and was able to write to it.
