Lost external DAC capability after JB update

On ICS I could plug in my external DAC to the usb port on the HD dock and use it to listen to music. Now after JB it seems no sound is transmitted out the usb. I've looked all over for a setting to turn it on but there is nothing. The usb ports work fine for my mouse and flash drive.
Anybody got a clue?

No, but that sucks. I thought that the phone world was finally starting to accept digital USB, but it seems there are still barriers to break through.
