looks like froyo for droid might take longer then expected

Yeah, I saw that chart on another site yesterday. It only mentions current plans for 2.1 updates and imo has nothing to do with Froyo releases.

I've never heard of this web site. How is it credible? It doesn't give any sources.

I don't believe a word it says.

I agree, this website is interpreting the information on a table in a negative way and assuming a lot.

Do they think only one team works on updates?

Umm yeah that site is taking news from 3 months ago and assuming it has something to do with Froyo.

This is the Motorola Android Software Upgrade News page that OZCARGUIDE refers to. https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades

They failed to include this disclaimer below the chart.

Looks like OZCARGUIDE is just stirring the pot.

lol no one is ever happy with the version they have once they hear about a new one coming out.

quite sad really....

This is just speculation, motorola wouldn't leave over 2 million droid users in the dust. We will most likely get 2.2 after the nexus one does

I HIGHLY doubt that. They will get the Devour, Dext and Cliq online with 2.1 before pushing 2.2.

Then they need to update the Xtreme, DI, Droid 2 before anything else.

I'm catching a lot of heat for my predictions but I'm sticking to it. No 2.2 for current Motorola Droid.

IF it does get the update, and thats a big if, it won't roll out until the end of the year at the earliest.

You read it here first : )

Here's an early schedule (February) and Moto seems to be keeping on schedule

I'm going to have to side with cereal killer on this one. I don't think we'll see it OTA for a long time or maybe ever. But we shall prevail!!! We don't need them!! We just kinda need them to leak something we can work with. 2.2 will be in roms
first.

While you may be right, I bet you'd be happy to be proven wrong.

I doubt the Droid or Milestone will get it. Back when the Milestone was first released, all of their product literature had mentioned "Flash Ready" - now, all traces of Flash have been removed. And since Froyo is required to use Flash, I really doubt it's coming any time soon.

I guess this quote from the CEO of Motorola means nothing, but a random blog twisting outdated information means the world...

"you’ll see us being very aggressive in introducing 2.2 product"

Or this quote from Motorola...

"While I can’t comment on specifics, we do expect DROID by Motorola users will receive Android 2.2 as a software upgrade in the near future.”

I guess near future could be the end of 2010 though? And nice job of saying it won't get it, but then making sure you cover all your bases and adding in the "end of the year" stuff. :)

Reads to me like exactly like I've been saying.

2.2 product = the yet to be released Moto devices.

Aka Droid2, Xtreme, Droid Pro

Edit: fair enough Kellex. I say unequivocally that the current Droid will not be seeing 2.2. You can take that to the bank. : )
