LG's Communications Director Ken Hong recently had some intriguing comments regarding the Google Nexus 6. Supposedly, the company will not be making the device for Google this year. Here's a quote with what he shared when asked about whether LG would make the device this year,

"I know at least not yet. Normally, we were informed. That can mean two things. Either I got ignored, or we simply won't be making [the Nexus 6].

He added that he was disappointed that LG wouldn't be making it,

"If you can develop a Google phone that gives credibility. But money you earn is not easy, and you become too dependent on Google."

Finally, Hong elaborated a bit regarding the unexpectedly high interest in the handset,

"Google determines how many phones are to be made, and we do that. If it is stated that LG produces too few Nexus phones, the media then is simply incorrect. We get asked, we deliver."

There is one other possibility that Hong didn't suggest: maybe the rumors that Google isn't making a new Nexus device this year are true. Could they be getting ready to shift to the Android Silver project?

Think this all but officially put the nail in the coffin for the nexus series. We heard rumors that silver was the way of the future but I saw a few articles about a lg nexus 6 and thought maybe Google will give us one last hoorah. But if there ever was a time to go out it is now with the nexus 5 (2 yrs removed from the galaxy nexus arguably the worst).
The only unfortunate thing is that we never got a moto nexus though the moto x developer edition and moto g Google play edition are the closest to an unofficial version and the Xoom being a reference for their vision of a tablet (running their official software specifically for tablets).

Speaking of honeycomb, how long before Google abandon android wear and make one android version compatible with watches, phones, and tablets?
