We have woodpeckers up in the trees. They are about 1 1/2 feet long standing in tree with wings closed. They bang so hard on the trees that you can hear it pretty far. We've had them but never this big. They're really pretty with a bright red patch on the back of their heads and a dark back and light underside. If I shout at him, he stops to listen(for the win) but I can't seem to chase him away and I don't want to (nor is it legal) shoot him out of the trees! That would not be a win for anyone [emoji53]

The only woodpecker that is as big as you describe, is the Pileated Woodpecker. That's a win for sure!
