Kitkat update - help with default text program please

My Galaxy Note 3 just updated to KITKAT. Previously, although my Default text messaging was SMS Pro, I was able to use the stock Samsung text by choice when I wanted to send large attachments. Now after update it's one or the other and the phone locks the non-default. WTF?

How do I work around this?

They probably conflict and either Google or your carrier will only allow one or the other but not both.

Thanks for your input. They worked fine before the update. That said, I know it's Google or Samsung. I'm asking if anyone had a workaround.

Not sure there is. If I do come across one, I will certainly let you know.
