Is there any way to make the arrows disappear on the stock keyboard

Try the optional keyboards in options. Why no arrows?

It's my brother's phone and he keeps hitting them instead of space. When I had the tbolt I loved the arrows but I've recently (Monday) moved on to the big brother rezound
