Keep getting double text messages? Can someone please help.

No sure author this is happening. I am using saphire rom with the Avalon beta theme. I have disabled notifications from the stock messenger and tried Chomp sms instead of handscent and that didn't fix it. I was thinking of backing up and reinstalling everything but didn't want to until I checked here first. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

so you are getting two messages from the same person all displayed through the same app?? or 1 message in 2 different apps?

Are you getting them from the 2 different programs (default messaging and the add-on messaging)?
If so, go into the default messaging. Go to settings. In Notifications unclick the check box.

I am getting the same message twice, but only from two contacts. I am not talking about notifications, I only have one notification but the message is displayed twice in the message thread.

Could those people be in your contacts twice? Or in google and local contacts or facebook seperately or something like that?

Nope, I thought of that and no such luck. I did not start getting these double messages until I switched to the Droid 2 last week. I would get the message only once on my D1 but the day I activated my D2 I began receiving the messages twice, but only from two specific contacts.

every now and then i will receive the same message twice from only one of my friends. but it seems like it happens at random....but it is that one contact only. so i have given up on trying to figure it out lol

Well i thought that it was my rom but after changing I am still getting double texts on occasion. So is there a way to fix this?

me ans my friends think its just a network bug which makes u receive twice
