Just got my Bionic!

Wow, is this thing FAST, especially when compared to my old OG Droid (even overclocked to 1Ghz). My only observation is "HOLY CRAP DOES VERIZON LOAD ENOUGH 'STUFF' ONTO THIS THING???"

Why does it have BOTH the VZ Navigator (that you have to PAY for) and Google Navigator (Free AND more accurate)??

And I HATE the Gallery App. I have my photos arranged in different folders so I keep related photos together. This thing just shows EVERYTHING at once. Only organization that can be done is by GPS location, or WHEN the photo was taken. USELESS.

Oh well... things could be worse... they could've set up "Bing" as the default search engine instead of "Google."

I plan on rooting this phone over the weekend and the first thing I'm doing is getting rid of all that useless CRAP Verizon seems to think I want/need.

^Yep, debloat and you will see your battery life improve as well. Get Quickpic as a gallery replacement and then jump for joy!

Be careful when you debloat. Delete the wrong app and you'll have problems as a few of them are tied into the system. Some you need to freeze instead of straight deleting them. Read up on it in the Bionic Hacks section.

quickpic? is it really that good? I hate this gallery and have been looking for something.

does that mean I can remove the stock gallery, or at least freeze it?

I havent frozen the stock gallery on my Bionic. When I froze it on my DX, the videos on my sd card would no longer show up!

Yea I'm not an expert but I believe the stock gallery is tied to alot of different parts of the system so deleting it would be a bad idea. But as for quickpic, I use it and love it. I hate the stock gallery as well.

Good stuff guys! I ordered my Bionic today (along with an extended battery), and anxious to see how fast it really is. I only wish that it could hotspot without paying for another internet connection.

Pretty crazy fast compared to the OG Droid, eh? I'm loving it. It's been so fast that Blur isn't bothering me yet, never thought I would say that. I figure I will leave mine alone for another month or two, but soon all that stupid sh*t useless, memory hogging, annoying garbage-ware is going away. What drives me crazy is that a very nice high end phone like this comes out, where normally the battery life would be good, and moto/verizon load it up with crapware that bogs it down and shortens battery life. The suit(s) that make these decisions should be fired. They will be in time...

I downloaded and installed Quickpic too. Gallery+ had too many negative reviews. Quickpic was exactly what I was looking for, thanks. Found a list of apps that can be safely frozen by Titanium Backup and I'll take care of that this weekend.

OK, so my Bionic arrived last night. I charged the extended battery overnight and started trying to set it up this morning. It WAS NOT a piece of cake as might have been implied, but for the most part it is operating and it will receive calls. I have yet to establish any email accounts other than GMail however (which really bothers me - the DX worked a heck of a lot better in this regard).

I will now start searching the forums for tips on email setup.
