It should be almost here, you know what i'm talking about

Have you tried a wall charger or better yet, taking a micro usb cable and splitting it open and shorting the data pairs? I have a cable like that at work I made and it charges my phone no matter what. If I let my phone completely die I have no choice but to use a wall charger or my cable I made at work. The simple reason for this is that motorola forums follow the usb specs to the tee, even in their bootloader and that's the problem.

USB normally only supplies 50 MA until a device tells the USB controller how much to push down. Well... the droid 2 in its bootloader does the same thing except it needs more then 50 to power on so it never does. If you short the data pairs then it can pull down 500 MA which is much better.

awesome :) do you have a link handy with all those specs?

Um just curious, but do we really need to debootstrap? I've never heard of having to do that, or even unroot. You just need to make sure you're on the stock ROM and have nothing frozen, and the update will automatically unroot the phone. That's all I've seen. But frankly I'll probably just wait until TBH releases a pre-rooted gingerbread anyway, lol.

if you dont debootstrap, you wont be able to get into the stock recovery to install the update, otherwise it just goes to CWR and it doesnt update. chances are we can use gingerbreak to root the update ourselves, so i dont think we have to wait for TBH, although im not sure if they will release a prerooted version since they dont dev for the d2g at all.

Hmm, interesting. What do you mean they don't dev for the D2G? There wouldn't be files in our TBH app if they didn't support it, and I saw P3Droid ask about a D2G on Twitter last week

one of those files was leaked to them (sbf) the rest are files you can download from the motorola support site, my point by saying they dont do any dev work is that they dont release any roms or apps we can use to modify our phones, they are working on cm7 for the dx and d2, which should be in the tbh app, they have their own rom, tranquility, in the app, and they have the monster zip file in their app for the d2/dx, but nothing but an sbf for the d2g, which is why i dont think they will release something like a prerooted, modified stock update.

Huh, I just figured they supported all motorola droid's on Verizon. I mean seriously, they support the pro but not us? lol

On the bright side though, D2G has its own little niche of developers-one of which is actually helping bring CM to the D2G.
Dead serious too, he's already got it to boot. (If it boots, it can be fixed, no?)

Yeah I saw that, hopefully it can actually be finished! I saw a guy from xda said he actually worked on a barebones version of CM6.1, so that gives me some assurance.

So now according to motorola the gb update isn't rolling out, but verizon says it is. makes you wonder

And considering we haven't seen any confirmed cases of GB being rolled out, yeah, I'd put my trust in Motorola on this issue.

Well I finally got Motorola tech support and Verizon level 2 support to agree.

Motorola said Gingerbread has not been deployed yet.

Verizon said that it was shown as "coming soon" in their internal documents and has not been deployed yet. They were trained on the Gingerbread update for the Droid X three days before it was pushed to phones. They have not been trained on the Gingerbread update for the Droid 2 Global yet.

The soak test won't be until end of next week most likely. Then we could go through 4 versions before final in just a week like the x did....i unrooted and sbf'd for this.....i can live without root, i want my phone to act right though. Coming from a d2, the support structure is limited.

Welp, I've been schooled. Verizon happily announces the 2.3 push and Moto says uhhh, no. I'm pretty gullible and took Verizon at its word... I'll not believe any mega-corporation again... I'll monitor this forum for the truth. I have now joined the ranks of you that have jerked around by Moto and Verizon and become a cynic...it's a shame...
