Is there an app that can detect the loss of ext power when in dock?

When the phone is in the dock, is there an app that can detect the loss of external power and power the phone off?
I put my phone in the dock every night and last night there was a power failure in my neighborhood. If the power was off for a long enough time I imagine the phone battery could be drained substantially. I woke up during the power failure and shut the phone off to prevent battery drain but it would be nice to have an app that could detect power failure while in dock and shut the phone off. Of course it would have to be an option to do so and maybe optionally sound an alarm on power failure.

I don't think there's a way the phone could distinguish between a power failure and just being unplugged.

There are some apps out there that allow you to set profiles/actions based on events, such as being unplugged. "Tasker" is a very powerful one (but very advanced), otherwise "Setting Profiles" is another.

Might be so, but I would think the OS knows when it is in the dock and should be on ext power but is on battery, which is not a normal condition. If so it could be detected and do something.
I'll take a look at Tasker and Setting Profiles.
