Is there a way to get new icons on my Pro?

I'd like to use some of the custom icons that I see on the screenshots of other Droids. How do I accomplish this? Would I have to be rooted?

Well you could do it by downloading a package of the replacement icons and then using an app called desktop visualizer to place them as shortcuts on your stock desktop or use a home replacement like launcher pro or adw to do basically the same thing. Neither requires root

I agree with the Launcher Pro app download recommendation . It totally changes the look of your home screen. Very customizable.

I have LP but I don't know how to do any of the customization. I just have a basic homescreen with some of the apps changed in the dock.

Your best bet is to get "ADW Launcher" from the market, and then search "ADW themes" and you'll find a lot of cool themes.

You need astro or a file manager to extract the zip files but it can all be done from your phone.

This is probably beyond the scope of the OP's question, but has anybody found a way to replace the battery icon? I'd like something with a percentage in the icon, but haven't found a way to actually replace it. I've tried Metamorph, but it didn't work.

Pretty sure you need to edit your framework.res to accomplish this.
