Is it possible to replace my sister's phone by upgrading to a free phone?

So, my sister's phone is broken (not under warranty), and I'm eligible for an upgrade. If I "upgrade" my Droid to one of Verizon's free phones will it be possible to switch my sister's number to it?

yes. you can use your upgrade. get the new phone. put the new one on her line and then continue using your phone.

that's what i did for my sister, got my incredible and she took my old droid.

she's lucky she even got the droid considering she's horrible with taking care of her things...
