Ok, so as you can see we live in a dead zone.

My phone stays connected mainly to 2 cell phone towers. One directly to my north about 15 minutes away, and one to the south which generally gets better coverage most days.

The tower to the north, my db range usually sits between -95 to -113.

To the south, on a good day I might get down to -90.

I recently discovered the "Open Signal" app, and according to their tower map there should be dozens of towers around us.

So why does my phone choose the weakest signal strength?

I know GSM phones are supposed to pick a target spot, and automatically store is in the memory but it seems as though my phone has decided to remember the worst towers.

I have tried power cycling with no luck.

I did notice through some research that there are USSD codes. Though it looks as though it was mainly ised by Verizon phones, I did notice there were some from 2014, at least for the galaxy series up to a S5.

And I know I read in the earlier days there was a code to reset your cell tower assignment.

Or am I losing it?

I did find the USSD codes very interesting. I never knew they exsisted.

However, I did not go poking around too much. I was scared I would mess up my phone.

Welcome to the forum. I thought there used to be a way, but I'm pretty sure your device needed to be rooted in order to accomplish this.
Hang in there and hopefully one of our more knowledgeable members can assist you with this.
Good luck!

Thank you for the welcome.

After speaking with att tech support, I left the poor guys head spinning.

The response I got was "Mam, honestly you are asking questions we are not trained in."

Bless him.

However, he did provide me with the att cell towers id numbers.

As well as told me my 3g service work better than the 4g.

Idk. My brain is about shot at this point. Not sure what else to do
