Is it possible to hide the picture icons in the contact list?

I don't really have any contact pictures so I'm wondering if it's possible to get rid of the icons since they're technically useless. I'm not sure if I'll like the look of it without them, but want to see. Is it possible to do this?

i don't think you can because i believe the icon's/ photos are part of the droids "quick contact" feature- an android thing.

because by pressing on the photo/ icon you get a drop down of several ways to contact the person. Removing this might take away some android functionality, imo
