I have a task and I am wondering if a Google Voice number could be used to facilitate it. I have a group of 12 individuals and I need to come up with an "on Call" system for them. The idea of purchasing a pager and passing it around as required was considered, but I was thinking that putting all the numbers into the GV would be better.
1. At a minimum, I'd set it up that if the number were called between 5pm and 5am, it would ring all 12 cellphones, and the first person to pick up, gets the call.
2. Assuming that this would work, is it possible to set up someway to "opt yourself out" if you were at an appointment or otherwise unavailable? This type of call is one that the people will want to receive if they can, so I'm not concearned with people purposely opting out for the hell of it.
I use GV now, but I am no expert and certainly don't use it to it's full potential.
Would the first part work, and if so, how could the second be accomplished?
