My understanding is the device is capable; however, Verizon Wirless' network does not support it.

you have to be on at&t for that to work and the droid is on verizon. if u got a android phone from at&t u could use the internet while on a call. internet and call work at the same time if you are connected to wifi but if ur on 3g internet will pause for call

Supposedly the I*hone can browse the internet during a call, but only if you hold it just right aaaand have a 3g connection aaaand not drop the call. The odds of all three happening at the same time are astronomical.

Like others have mentioned, this is not a phone limitation but a CDMA limitation. GSM phones can talk and use internet at the same time so in the US your options are Tmo and ATT.

When LTE comes out Verizon customers will be able to be on calls and net at the same time.

Sent from my Droid using interplanetary communications that neither you or I could possibly understand. Cheers.

Incorrect. Well sorta. Verizon (And pretty much everyone) use EVDO (evoloution data only), which as the name suggests, is data only. there is also another cdma technology that they couldve adopted, EVDV, (evoloution data voice) that can do both. So our major problem here is that we cant run the 1x radio that we use for calling at the same time that we run the Evdo radio. Also, not only Att supports that. t-mobile does as well. It just has to do with how the gsm 3g is used to route calls, while we flip back to 1x.

This negative of the droid has NEVER caused a problem for me. This may have to do with how I use my phone. I don't like talking on the phone so I end calls quickly.

iPhone people need this capability because they and their friends drone on endlessly. They surf the web so they don't get bored by the conversation.

I'm kidding. I have family that use iphones.
