I will be traveling to Antugia and will not have cell service on my Motorola
Droid 1. Will I be able to connect to the web via wifi on this phone?

Yes! Last October, my wife and I were in Montreal and I was able to connect to our hotel's wifi just fine.

Settings> Wireless & Networks> Mobile Networks> Data Enabled -- make sure this is unchecked. Now turn on WiFi and ONLY use WiFi. Also, since any call you make will be HORRIBLY expensive, if you can even get a signal (and foreign networks might charge even for connecting to it), you might want to consider running with WiFi hot and Airplane mode turned off -- unless you have a foreign calling option with Verizon. :)
