Installed first rom

I have install my first rom, went very smoothly following post on here. I use the sprecovery method. I did the sourcery rom. Seems pretty cool. I do have some questions though.. I keep seeing on here people clearing battery status or something along those line. I can't find anything on how to do that. I would also like to know what the dalvik cache is and is it a good idea to clear it? Thanks

You'll need ClockworkMod recovery to see/do these things.

the sourcery rom has a place right in it to clear the dalvik cache right in it.
