Initial Charge

I searched this before posting, I didn't see another post about it, but if there is one I apologize in advance.

I was reading HTC's website and it suggests charging your Incredible with it off for 8 hours when you first receive it. Can anyone confirm or deny if this is accurate, or just way overcautious?

Charge it now or later. Charge it at any point (dead, 1/2 or almost full). Charge it only partially It makes no difference! These are not old nicad batteries. The posts you are reading are simply wrong. These are Lithium-ion polymer batteries. Lithium-ion is a low maintenance battery. There is absolutely no memory and no scheduled cycling required to prolong the battery's life. It's an ideal battery. Just Google Lithium-ion.
