If not supposed to use task killer...

I've read hundred of threads about task killers....but how can my phone stay running fast w/o a killer? When I haven't killed tasks it runs VERYslow ...does this mean I can't have all the fun apps I have or just have to close one at a time till I can find which app or apps is bad? Very confused on this matter any help would be great....don't send me links on why not to use I have watched lots of videos and read even more......lol is there a droid for dummies book? I came from the bb storms thinking a battery pull wasn't so bad

I have read the same things, and even tried it without using one for awhile. But I followed the guide on rooting, and took off the bloatware and use Autostarts and ATK. I don't auto kill anything, and I have it set to ignore the stuff that would come back on anyway. I do use it for when I am done with the browser, games, gallery, music, and the market. Things that I know I am not going to need anytime soon and even if I did they don't load any slower.

My thing is yes the Droid is very good about managing when it needs memory, but why sit at around 65mb when you can have 130mb. For me the messaging was the kicker, when I didn't use the task killer that was the first thing to slow down. Now after installing again it is fast as always, so I know most are against it. I like the way it makes my phone run, and I also set the task killer to kill itself when doing other stuff so that isn't running in the background either.

I use no task killers and my Droid X runs extremely smooth. I have not encountered lag once with this device. I let Android handle my device the way it was intended.

It may be an app you downloaded causing this. I would try to figure out which one it is.

I'm not sure then. I have never had this problem. I have many apps running in the background and updating every hour. This includes weather updates and RSS feeds.

I also do not use the stock Launcher. I use LauncherPro. I am also rooted and have removed several things, but even before I removed them, my phone never got to the point where it was extremely slow.

Try it with and without and decide what's best for you. I don't use one because I'm happy with android's built in killer. Many people experience problems and battery drain while others like 'em.

Have not yet found anyone to explain why not ATK, except that you should let the DX manage your tasks which is not a technically sound enough argument for me.

Because even when u set it to auto kill ur driod will turn them back on which revs up the cpu and drains more battery. And when ur driod needs memory it will allocate it where needed. I use a program called system monitor which shows me apps using battery and allows me to kill one at a time and i only kill system monitor when in done with it or ill kill a locked up app. I let the android os do its job.

I got my first android on june 4th and was told by the store to use app killers so i did every time i used my phone. Like many of you i found plenty of forums stating that task killers were bad.

Someone on a forum recommended that i try an app called system panel which would show me what apps were using xxx amount of cpu. Under the assumption that if a app uses cpu then it effects the battery...every app in the background showed 0%cpu consumption. So i uninstalled my task killer and my phone runs smooth as ever.

This is my opinion and as we all know opinions vary but this is how i came to my conclusion.

Apps in use are books you are reading (using CPU/BATTERY)
