icons appearing on home screen

I have had a few instances where I have had random icons appear on my home screen. One was a mario icon and today was a expedia icon. All of them have appeared over the last week or so. Anybody seen this and know what could be causing it? I have a Note2 I traded for about 2 1/2 weeks ago.
I have not clicked on any of them I just deleated them and nothing was in my app drawer.

Assuming those were NOT apps you installed the only time I've heard of that was when an app that was installed, loaded with adware, was installed and it added icons for various apps.

If you click them they'll more than likely take you to a website to buy something.
Sounds like you've installed an app that uses Push ads.

It's not a big problem. You just need to find out what app is doing this.

It usually just creates an icone to a web page, it doesn't install an app.

alot of the games that are downloaded can pop up other icons.
