Ice Cream Sandwich

A dual core device with 1GB of ram and Android 2.3.4. Yup I'm 100% it will be able to get ICS. The real question is how many months after release will we get it.

How long has GB even been out? Not all that long and now another OS upgrade. Google better slow down or they will run out of sweets!

You can bet the bionic will be the first to get the ota update officially....

I don't know about that. OG droid got GB way before the X2 did. You'd THINK the newer phones would have priority on new updates, but that doesn't always seem to be the case. I think I got Froyo on my Eris before it was released to a lot of other phones. Then again, I didn't know much about phones back then so I might be remembering wrong.

I have also heard ICS and the Bionic were made for eachother. Though I'm also surprised there was such a huge gap (like a year, right?) between Froyo and GB, but ICS phones are coming out in a few months. Maybe GB was a transition OS to find the middle ground between single/dual core phones. Maybe only dual core phones will get full ICS, singles will get a new GB? Who knows...

Edit: To clear up any confusion - I meant Droid X not OG droid. Sorry, sumtimes my brayne dont wurk so gud.

There was definitely an official OTA update for the original Droid before the X2. I am 100% sure of this because us X2 owners were up in arms that we had so many issues but still were one of the last to get the update. Yes, there was a hacked version of GB out before that, but an official one was released. It might have been the Droid X and not the OG, but still that's almost a year before the X2. Pretty sure OG Droid got it too though...

Not for GB. The OG DROID never got it via ota officially.

Didn't the x2 ship with GB? Froyo was the last major software update the OG received and that was well before the x2 even came out.

Edit: I do see your point though as the OG DROID did receive Froyo before newer phones such as the dinc and DROID x.

U might be confusing the original droid with the DROIDX... gingerbread went to the DROIDX b4 it went to the DROIDX2..
From what i understand is that the original droid got gb thru rooting and hacking.
I wouldn't be suprised if the bionic got ice cream but i would be suprised if it was with 6 months from october (this month) especially when u consider how long it took gb to get to the DROIDX.. and also motorola's track record with their updates - however, the google and motorila partnership may make updates release much quicker.. but who knows lol
