I keep losing data, any suggestions? (Solved)

I lose my Data signal regularly and am not sure why or how to remedy the situation. It just goes bye bye, and, reboots, ect. don't seem to correct the problem. I just have to wait and eventually it will start working again.

Not sure if this should be in the bug thread but it is definitely an issue for me. If anybody else has dealt with this I would appreciate any advice/info???

Device is a Droid 2 (hence this forum:icon_eek:).

As far as a clean install, I am currently on build 20. I had to install it 2 or 3 times before I got it to function relatively bug-free. So, not sure exactly what you mean by 'clean install' but I would say, yes.

Maybe install the latest build (24) first. A clean install would be
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Mount system (important!)
Install nightly
Install gapps
Reboot
You don't have to wipe data going from 20 to 24 (just wipe cache, dalvik. Mount and install) it may not resolve all your issues this way. That's why I suggested a data wipe

Is there a way to preserve my text messages and call log? It's a major PITA losing all that every time.

I consider a clean install to be SBF'ing, also.

Installed build 24 but still no data connection. Wifi works but when I turn it off I have nothing? Tried a reboot and battery pull to no avail. Just says, "no internet connection" unless I get on wifi.

This has to be a phone issue. Cm and your phone don't play nice. It's been issue after issue hasn't it? I'm sorry to hear it! I'm sure you've tried *228 and all the other little fixes to no avail right?

Oh, titanium backup won't save sms but I believe mybackup pro or root will backup contacts/sms (maybe even call logs)

I'm not really aware of any fixes, haven't tried anything aside from what I mentioned. What is *228? Yeah, I have had a bunch of issues but always assumed it was my fault. A phone is a phone, right? Why would mine be any different than yours? I would hate to have to ditch CM7, it is by far my favorite and I just got it set up the way I like it...

*228 and hit send. It will take you to a vzw menu to activate your phone (option1), or update roaming capabilities (option 2). Do both. It's worth a try.

Ok, I feel like an idiot. I just figured out that, somehow, settings>wireless&networks>mobile networks>data enabled, was un-checked. Checked the box and everything seems fine?

I have no idea why it would be off. Could Juice Defender have turned it off somehow?
