I got S7 Edge shortly after it was released and lately it's been running dog slow. It takes 3-5 seconds to open mundane apps like Gmail or the messaging app. Any suggestions about this?

Have you performed any kind of troubleshooting? Clear app cache, reboot the phone, clear the system cache?

Also... Is the phone on the most recent OS?

a couple of things come to mind. delete the system cache partition and make sure your storage is not almost full from too many pictures, videos, install apps or more. the phone only holds so much and will start slowing down if close to full.
