I can't get rid of notification on my Verizon Droid X!!!

I have a Verizon Droid X and ever since I updated the droid app I have received a notification at the top bar that looks like a green star. I get a new message every day with junk. Some being "find single people in your area", others say "watch a movie now!" Junk like that, which is the same crap that email accounts get and are sent to spam/junk folders. However it doesn't link into any of my email accounts, it is it's own link to try install an app from the droid marketplace. Does anyone know how to stop this!?

Consider looking at any recently installed apps. It's not the ota update that is doing that. Maybe uninstall your last two or three apps that you have downloaded. I remember hearing about something like this before on here and it was an app. Good luck!
